iPhone X. Revolutionary or just another Smart Phone?

It is that time of year again. Apple has released their newest round of iPhone models, the iPhone 8, 8s, and the iPhone X. The buzz around the iPhone 8 has not been too crazy, as the phone itself is not much of a change from the iPhone 7. However, the iPhone X has generated a ton of hype over its new facial recognition technology, among other things. I am a Telecommunications major so this is something that hits home with me, but the main question I am trying to answer with this post is whether or not the iPhone X is worth its large price tag.

An article from techcrunch.com, "Tests give iPhone X Display Top Honors, but Camera is Merely Competitive" written by Devin Coldewey, gives a solid insight into what exactly the consumer is getting if they decide to purchase the iPhone X for a whopping $1,200. According to Coldewey, the iPhone X is in the highest tiers of quality when it comes to the display and camera. Tests conducted by "DisplayMate's" showed that Apple beat out the latest OLED displays from Samsung, giving them the best image display in the business.

Throughout my studies of Telecommunications over the past few years, I have developed a firm grasp of the Tech world and everything that comes with it, including smartphones. The iPhone X was supposed to be something new with the idea of taking control of the smartphone industry. Apple may have found exactly what they are looking for because not only does the iPhone X have top notch display technology, but it also has the best camera in the business, beating out both Samsung and Huawei Mate. The downside for most people (including myself) will be the hefty price tag, but if one is able to make the purchase then it looks like they will be getting their moneys worth after all.
